Sesimbra
The white beaches in Sesimbra are great for children (water gets deeper only very gradually) and the water is generally speaking very calm.
On the beach you can rent sunloungers
or loungers under straw roofs.
In the beach restaurants and
bars just a few metres away, you can among others have tasty
sardines grilled and enjoy a cool Vino Verde.
...
that's the life!
If you want to experience a different
side of Atlantic, then drive to the 25 kilometres long beaches
of Aldeia do Meco which are inviting for nudism and going for
a swim in the surf.
It is said that the region of Sesimbra has the best microclimate Europe.
Not far away from Sesimbra you can find more romantic bays and beaches on the of the Sierra Arabida in the nature reserve.
You like to surf? Close to the
Vila de Sol you'll find the lake Lagoa de Albufeira, a lake with
an entry to the open sea, a paradise for surfers. Even beginners
can easily start their surf-course trained by several surf schools.
For kite-surfers as well the ideal area; the profi is going to surf in the waves of the open sea!
